Description
FringeWorlds occupy the far edges of settled space, lying just beyond reliable trade lanes and administrative oversight. These planets are technically charted but receive little attention from central authorities, leaving them in a constant state of half-forgotten colonization. Most FringeWorlds host scattered settlements built by drifters, exiles, frontier clans, or failed corporate ventures that left more junk tech than infrastructure behind. Life on a FringeWorld swings wildly between primitive and improvised-high-tech. A village may rely on wooden shelters and scrap-tier firearms, while a day’s journey away lies a half-buried shuttle or an abandoned research facility that locals treat as superstition. Governance is fragmented or nonexistent; warlords, communes, militias, and survivalist enclaves often coexist uneasily. Criminal syndicates flourish here, as do fringe religions, eccentric cults, and renegade scientists banned elsewhere.
