𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝑽𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒊-𝑪𝒂𝒄𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨: Formed in 1808 by a decree from Murat, then christened the Veliti-Cacciatori, in 1811 a second regiment of velites was raised and the regiment was renamed 1st Regiment of Foot Velites of the Guard. Being held back in reserve along with the rest of the Neapolitan 33rd division at Danzig, when the remnants of the Grande Armee returned from Russia, the velites are entrusted to form part of his rearguard.
