𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝐚 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝟐𝒐 𝑭𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒂 𝑳𝒆𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒂 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨: Originally raised as the 1st regiment in 1806 when the Kingdom first came under Bonapartist rule, it was made up of many ex Borbon soldiers along with many criminals. The regiment performed poorly in its campaign in Spain as a result, suffering severe desertion rates in 1808 and 1809. But when the regiment was redeployed to Spain in 1810, having been reformed and properly built up, it proved the quality of Neapolitan troops when properly organized and trained. The regiment after that had its Spanish elements form the 8th line, while the rest of the unit stayed with the Army of the Interior, waiting to repel a English invasion in Calabria.
