🐅 Briarwood State University Established May 2nd, 1901 🐾 Briarwood State University opened in 1901 in the bayou country of southern Louisiana, founded to give local families a place for higher learning close to home. Surrounded by cypress trees, river bends, and the deep traditions of the South, the school started small with just one academic hall and a few dozen students. Over the years, Briarwood State grew into a respected university while holding onto its roots—built on hard work, community, and Southern pride.
