Description
Makino Clan (牧野氏) The Makino Clan was a distinguished samurai family that rose to prominence during Japan’s Sengoku period (Warring States period, 1467–1615). Originally hailing from Mikawa Province, the clan claimed descent from the legendary Minamoto lineage, which gave them noble prestige and legitimacy among the turbulent feudal lords of the era. During the Edo period, their loyalty was rewarded and they became fudai daimyōs governing regions such as Nagaoka and Kasama. Makino's continuation of the Satomi clan's unfinished legacy symbolizes the ideals of honor, harmony, and resilience that characterize Japan's samurai tradition.
