27 BCE - 14 CE THE URBAN COHORTS WERE CREATED AS A COUNTERBALANCE TO THE NEW PRAETORIAN GUARD, AS WELL AS A MEANS TO COMBAT THE LARGE AMOUNT OF CRIME WITHIN ROME. THEY ARE ROME’S PREMIER LAW ENFORCEMENT UNIT. THE URBAN COHORTS ONLY RECRUIT THE MOST COMPETENT RECRUITS TO CARRY OUT THE DUTIES REQUIRED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL.
