Description
The FDNY firehouse at 107 Watkins Street in Brownsville, Brooklyn, has been the home of Engine 231, Ladder 120, and Battalion 44 since its completion in 1905. Known as a "study house," it is celebrated for producing many of the department's top-ranking officers and its history as one of the city's busiest stations, particularly during the high-fire-volume years of the 1970s. In late 2025, the house continues its legacy of service, recently placing memorial bunting for Firefighter Patrick Brady, while operating with modern equipment like a 2023 Seagrave Attacker engine and a 2017 Tower Ladder.
