The Rockford Fire Department was originally formed in 1885, after The Great Rockford Fire. Rockford residents formed the “Rockford Boys Volunteer Hose Company” - the first fire protection agency in the region. Since our founding, the department has grown and adapted to modern fire protection standards. The department prides itself in quality firemanship, state of the art technology, and rapid emergency response across the city of Rockford.
