𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐎 𝐈 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐏𝐔𝐋𝐀𝐑 𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐑𝐃 𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐘 𝐁𝐂 First Manipular legion levied by the Consuls and Senatus Romanus. The Roman Republic is experiencing a period of major growth but to expand she must conquer. The strength of the Roman army lies in organisation, discipline and strict tactical doctrine. Well-drilled, well-equipped heavy infantry form the backbone of the army. The young, lightly armoured Hastati man the frontlines although inexperienced they hold the future Heros of Rome in their ranks. The Hastati are supported by the Velites formidable skirmishers wearing wolf skins to induce fear into their enemies. Behind them stand the more skilled and experienced, chainmail-clad Principes who have cemented their place within the legion as formidable warriors as they elevated themselves through the ranks of the Hastati. The oldest and most experienced veteran warriors the Triarii who have stood the test of time hold the rear.
