Description

The Mayflower Office of Civil Defense was formed in 1951 through a national order during the Second Red Scare so as to combat the damage risk in the case of an attack on Mayflower soil. Due to the lack of funding, the organization found itself dormant and underfunded within thirty years. The organization, however, was funded once again in 2019 by the Office of the Governor, and is headquartered within Lander, New Haven County. It is led by a voluntary warden, who is, in turn, in charge of managing the State Safety Bulletin. Though the pressure of the Soviet Union is no longer stressed upon the United States, the Mayflower Office of Civil Defense continues to assist the public in the general state of safety and welfare. The Office's prescribed budget is able to support no more than 90 servicemen.
