II. Magyar Hadsereg Heeresgruppe B WW2 (2nd Hungarian Army) (Army Group B) (WW2) The 2nd Army was the second of three Hungarian Armies formed on March 1st 1941 before the Invasion of Yugoslavia. It was well equipped, well disciplined, and well trained. It was the best equipped of the three Armies. It served in the Invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. It fought alongside the German 6th Army during it’s offensive in the Volga, where the Germans got encircled and destroyed. In 43 the 2nd Army became in charge of all Hungarian units on the Eastern Front. It was attached to the German Army Group B for a large portion of it’s life. In 1944, Hungary all of the sudden became a battlefield. Being attacked from the North, by the USSR, and the East, by it’s former ally Romania, they were found to be what the USSR was in 1941. The 2nd Army had a short lived success in the Battle of Debrecen, however later the Army was destroyed during the Siege of Budapest.
