Description

A mask of Kappa, a traditional Japanese yokai (supernatural creature). Kappa is considered one of Japan’s three most famous yokai and is one of the most familiar water-dwelling creatures in Japanese folklore. Legends of Kappa can be found throughout nearly all of Japan. One of its most distinctive features is the dish-like hollow on top of its head, which is always kept wet. It is said that if this “plate” dries out or becomes damaged, the Kappa loses its power.
