Description
The Garde-Jäger-Bataillon was a light infantry unit of the Prussian Guard, reorganized in 1808 from earlier Jäger formations. Its heritage reached back to the foot jägers raised by Frederick the Great in 1744. Drawing on hunting and forestry traditions, its riflemen specialized in marksmanship and mobile infantry service, supporting the Prussian army during the Napoleonic Wars.
