"In Stahlgewittern" The German M1917 Grabenpanzer Mod. 1D was an uncommon variant of the early-pattern trench armour developed during the First World War. It featured a distinctive cut-out on the right shoulder of its heavy steel breastplate, allowing the wearer to shoulder and fire a rifle more easily. Three articulated lower plates protected the abdomen, while the complete armour weighed roughly 10 kg. Its exact status remains uncertain, with surviving examples possibly representing either a limited factory-produced variant or period modifications.
