"De Oppresso Liber — To Free the Oppressed." The Third Special Forces Group was activated on the fifth of December, nineteen sixty-three at Fort Bragg, stood down after Vietnam, and was brought back on the first of July, nineteen ninety. Its beret flash is quartered in the colours of the units it was drawn from: yellow for the First Group, red for the Seventh, black for the Fifth, and white for the Special Forces Training Group. The group is oriented on Africa, though its record runs a good deal wider. It fought at Debecka Pass in Iraq in April of two thousand and three, and at Shok Valley in Afghanistan in two thousand and eight, where ten of its men were awarded Silver Stars for one action.
