ค่ายสุรนารี I Suranaree ROYAL THAI ARMY กองทัพภาคที่ ๒ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ปี พ.ศ. 2499 ให้แยกส่วนกำลังรบกับส่วนภูมิภาคออกจากกัน ปี พ.ศ. 2500 มีคำสั่งกองทัพบก ด่วนมาก ที่ ลงวันที่ 18 กุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ. 2500 ให้ยุบกองทัพที่ 2 และกองพลที่ 6 แปรสภาพเป็นภาคทหารบกที่ 2 ตามพระราชกฤษฎีกาการจัดระเบียบราชการกองทัพบกในกระทรวงกลาโหม พ.ศ. 2499 ซึ่งกำหนดไว้ว่าภาคทหารบกมีอำนาจบังคับบัญชามณฑลทหารบกโดยตรงกับมีหน้าที่ปกครองและบริการหน่วยรบ ส่วนกำลังรบ เช่น กองพลที่ 3 เป็นหน่วยขึ้นตรงกับกองทัพบก แต่ให้ฝากการบังคับบัญชากับภาคทหารบกที่ 2 ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. 2501 กองทัพบกได้มีคำสั่งที่ ลงวันที่ 28 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2501 ให้แปรสภาพภาคทหารบกที่ 2 เป็นกองทัพภาคที่ 2 มีอำนาจปกครองบังคับบัญชาหน่วยทหารทั้งสิ้นในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือทั้งที่เป็นส่วนกำลังรบและ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ "For the Nation, Religion, King and People" "เพื่อชาติ ศาสน์ กษัตริย์ และประชาชน"
