The Allies became invaders, and partisan militias formed a de facto division of the Red Army in response. As they recovered from their stroke-prone leader's loss, the military officially incorporated these guerrilla partisans. The next to lead was Khrushchev, whose reforms fostered unity and democracy within the ranks, allowing comrades to elect their officers who lead both autonomously and collectively.
