𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐎'𝐎𝐃𝐇𝐀𝐌 𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐄𝐑𝐀: 𝟏𝟖𝟓𝟎-𝟏𝟖𝟗𝟎 ➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵ The O’odham were seasonal farmers who took advantage of the rains. They grew crops such as sweet Indian corn, beans (tapery), squash, lentils and melons. They also took advantage of native plants, such as saguaro fruits, mesquite tree beans, cholla buds and mesquite candy (sap from the mesquite tree). The O'odham have a long history of defending their territory in southern Arizona and northern Sonora against neighboring tribes and colonial powers. Often fighting alongside their allies, the Maricopa's, they were known as fierce warriors, particularly in the 18th and 19th centuries. ➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵➵
