Description
In the wake of the independence war back in 1792, Jemtlands Nordlige Regiment emerged as a continuation and transformation of the proud martial traditions of the Jämtlands Fältjägarregemente. As the Kingdoms of Trøndelag and Jamtlann sought to consolidate their defensive capabilities and reassert their sovereignty in the Scandinavian heartlands, JNR was established to form the backbone of a new standing army that would stand against both southern incursions and eastern ambitions.
