Description
3r Infanterie Regiment was the principal line infantry unit of Würzburg, formed in the 18th century in the city of Würzburg as the territory’s Hausregiment and core standing force. Organized for disciplined line combat, volley fire, and garrison duty, the regiment served as both a ceremonial guard and a field formation. During the Napoleonic era, it took part in regional campaigns and defensive operations across Central Europe, adapting to the changing demands of early 19th-century warfare while remaining Würzburg’s primary infantry regiment.
