Description
Ithmiria, officially the State of Ithmiria (دولة الإثميرية), is a partially recognized state on the island of Agenor. It occupies the southwestern region and is one of the island’s two major ethnic groups. Historically, the Ithmirians share a common Phoenician ancestry with the Halmonites but began developing a distinct culture in the 10th century. Despite efforts under British rule to reduce discrimination, Ithmirians were often treated as second-class citizens. After the British withdrawal, a civil war erupted between the Ithmirians and Halmonites. Known as the War of Resistance by the Ithmirians, the conflict lasted nine years until United Nations intervention. A peacekeeping buffer zone was later established in the Ghabanu Forest to ease tensions. The Ithmirian People’s Tahrir Movement (IPTM) emerged as the primary Ithmirian leadership, receiving support from the USSR, East Germany, Cuba, and China. The UK also briefly funded the IPTM during the war.
