Bartow County is located in the Northwest Georgia region of the U.S. state of Georgia. According to the 2020 census, the county had a population of 108,901, an increase from 100,157 in 2010. The county seat is Cartersville. Traditionally considered part of Northwest Georgia, Bartow County is now included within the Atlanta metropolitan area, particularly in its southeastern portion near Cartersville. The county has experienced significant growth due to its proximity to Atlanta and its location along Interstate 75, approximately 40 miles (64 km) northwest of downtown Atlanta. Bartow County operates under a sole commissioner form of government, making it one of the largest counties in Georgia that still uses this form of county government.
