It provides both fire suppression and emergency medical services for the city of Acadia, Lincoln. The AFD is the second largest municipal fire department in the US, behind the FDNS (as measured by sworn personnel) - of which there are 4,500 total employees; who respond to over 800,000 emergency calls annually, making it the second busiest department in the country.
