The Harrison Police Department was established in April of 1883, following the Harrison City Council formally hiring Richard Hayes and Larry Macerson, as a municipal-level law enforcement agency of the City of Harrison. As the city grew, the department gradually adopted standardized uniforms, badges, and formal rules of conduct, reflecting an early shift towards professionalism and organization. Today, the Harrison Police Department continues to serve as the municipal-level law enforcement of the City of Harrison, responsible for enforcing laws, maintaining public order, and protecting life and property throughout the City of Harrison.
