Batallón Fijo de Mexico #33618549
Description
The Fixed Battalion of Mexico was a formed as a National Guard regiment in 1841 as a successor to the older Spanish Commercial Regiment. The battalion would go on to be known as the "Polkas" due to the battalion's middle class soldiers being known to dance the polka. When the war with America broke out the battalion would join Santa Anna's army marching north and would participate in some of the most notorious battles of the war such as Monterrey and Buena Vista. The regiment would go on to serve through out the Mexico City campaign and would be disbanded after the war.
