Remnants of this branch have a background of being responsible for the work done within the BOREALIS's engineering process. From design to its grand execution, they are associated with it. Nonetheless, these remnants nowadays use their engineering expertise to fight off the Combine's ever-growing reach towards the project. Thankfully due to how similar some aspects of the combine's technology are to Aperture's other research projects, it's relatively easy to capture and reprogram them to the resistance's cause. These remnants use said technology to provide area-denial, denying combine flanks, and engage in CQC within the battlefield.
