2ND REGIMENT OF FOOT GUARDS, COLDSTREAM GUARDS ELITE REGIMENT OF THE EMPIRE OF GREAT BRITAIN MOTTO: ‘’NULLI SECUNDUS’’ TRANSLATED: ‘’SECOND TO NONE’’ ♔▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬♚▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬♔ The 2nd Regiment of Foot Guards was raised in 1650 during the English Civil War, when the Lord-Protector permitted George Monck to form his own regiment as part of the New Model Army. Following the fall of the Commonwealth of England, Monck gave his support to the Monarchy, crossing into England at the village of Coldstream. When Monck died in 1670, the Earl took command of the regiment and it adopted a new name, the 2nd Regiment of Foot Guards, Coldstream Guards. ♔▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬♚▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬♔ BATTLE HONOURS: Defence of Fort Southgate Defence of Fort George Battle of Vitoria-Gasteiz
