Kesultanan Sambaliung (sebelumnya bernama Kerajaan Tanjung) adalah kesultanan hasil dari pemecahan Kesultanan Berau, di mana Berau dipecah menjadi dua, yaitu Sambaliung dan Gunung Tabur pada sekitar tahun 1810-an. Sultan Sambaliung pertama adalah Sultan Alimuddin yang lebih dikenal dengan nama Raja Alam. Raja Alam adalah keturunan dari Baddit Dipattung atau yang lebih dikenal dengan Aji Suryanata Kesuma raja Berau pertama. Sampai dengan generasi ke-9, yakni Aji Dilayas. Aji Dilayas mempunyai dua anak yang berlainan ibu. Yang satu bernama Pangeran Tua dan satunya lagi bernama Pangeran Dipati.
