Description
Cemâ'at Ortaları (The Frontline Janissaries) The Cemâʿat-ı Yeniçeriyân formed the core fighting companies of the Ocak-ı Yeniçeriyân, making up the largest and oldest branch of the Janissary Corps. Deployed as the principal infantry on campaign, they bore the brunt of battle, stormed fortifications, held defensive lines, and served as the backbone of the Ottoman field army. Bound by discipline, courage, and loyalty to the Sultan, the men of the Cemâ'at were entrusted with upholding the honour and martial tradition of the Janissary corps.
