Established in 1920 and officially formed as the Arab Legion in 1923, the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) serve as the military institution responsible for defending the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Armed Forces operate under the command of His Majesty the King, who serves as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. Organized into the Royal Jordanian Land Force, Royal Jordanian Air Force, and Royal Jordanian Navy, the JAF is committed to national defense, regional security, peacekeeping operations, and protecting the values of the Kingdom.
