Description
The 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗡𝗖𝗖) is a federal Crown corporation of the Government of Canada responsible for planning, development, conservation, and improvement of the National Capital Region. Its mandate is to ensure that the capital reflects Canada’s national identity, heritage, and values. The NCC is responsible for federal land-use planning and the management of certain federal lands, buildings, and public spaces within the National Capital Region. It oversees long-term capital planning, urban design, environmental stewardship, and commemorative initiatives related to the capital. The Commission was established by Parliament under the National Capital Act and carries out its mandate through policy development, land management, and capital projects. Its principal areas of responsibility include: • Capital planning and urban design • Management of federal lands and real property • Parks, green spaces, and environmental conservation
