Description
| 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞. | Est. 1871. Founded in 1871 by a joint venture of American and Belgian industrialists, the Red Star Line built an elite reputation for transporting millions of European passengers from Antwerp to New York. After decades of immensely profitable operations, shifting political climates and tightening international maritime regulations caused severe financial anxiety for its board. Facing a bleak outlook, the Red Star Line was purchased in 1902 by American banker Theodore Winfield, along with other lines to try and monopolize the North Atlantic shipping trade. He would leverage its unrivaled access to mainland European ports, and the line began to take off drastically during the early 1910s as emigration reached historic heights.
