Lander Cіty Police Departmentᅠᅠ #628715099
Description
The Lander City Police Department was unofficially formed in 1790 as a night watch, which served the population of Lander City during the night to deter crime as many other municipalities done in the newly formed Union of Columbia. The LCPD was officially formed in 1845 as a response to the rising crime rates in the city, and originally mustered over 1,200 men to be of service to the city. In a bid for control, the State of Mayflower formed the Lander Metropolitan Police Department in 1857, which caused tension and violence amongst the municipal and state-controlled police officers. In the fallout of the 1857 police riot, the LMPD was disbanded, and power was relinquished back to the LCPD. The LCPD had a history of brutality during the 19th century. It was not until the 20th century that corruption was investigated within the LCPD, followed by reformations. Today, the Lander Police Department acts as the municipal-level civilian law enforcement agency of the City of Lander.
