Description

The Bedouins of Egypt The Aʿrâb-ı Mısır formed the nomadic tribes of the Egyptian lands, whose presence stretched across the deserts, valleys, and frontiers of the Eyalet-i Mısır. Skilled in horsemanship, survival, and desert warfare, the Bedouin tribes served as guides, scouts, and irregular warriors, while also protecting trade routes and maintaining influence throughout the countryside. By 1808, the Bedouins remained an essential part of Egypt’s social and military landscape. Though often independent in their ways, their knowledge of the land and mastery of desert movement made them valuable allies and formidable opponents within the Ottoman province.
