Description
Founded in September 1781 - "City of Angels" Los Angeles itself was founded on September 4, 1781, by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve, and became a part of Mexico in 1821 following the Mexican War of Independence. Los Angeles and the rest of California was purchased in 1848 under the Treaty of Guadalupe H., so becoming part of the United States. Los Angeles today is the entertainment capital of the world, among other things and is one of the most racially diverse places in the United States. It is a staple within American culture and is home to many iconic buildings, such as the US Bank Tower and the Hollywood Sign. It is also the home to many movie stars, musicians, and other icons.
