Description
| 𝐀𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞. | Est. 1881. Founded in 1881 by Bernard N. Baker, the Atlantic Transport Line carve out a highly lucrative niche by catering exclusively to wealthy first-class travelers and high-value cargo between London and New York. After decades of setting the gold standard for premium transatlantic travel, skyrocketing operational expenses and the need for grander vessels stretched its capital thin. Facing an unsustainable future, the Atlantic Transport Line was purchased in 1901 by American banker Theodore Winfield, along with other lines to try and monopolize the North Atlantic shipping trade. He would position it as a specialized luxury asset alongside his fleet, and the line began to take off drastically during the early 1910s by dominating premium cargo markets.
