Description
대한민국 해군의 제2함대는 대한민국의 서해 및 대한민국의 심장부인 수도권 해안을 방어하는, 해군작전사령부 예하의 해역함대다. 함대의 모항(母港)은 경기도 평택시 포승읍 원정리에 위치한 평택·당진항이며, 예하 부대인 인천해역방어사령부(인방사)가 인천국제공항과 수도인 서울특별시 그리고 경기도 인근 등 수도권 해역을 방어한다. 1946년에 창설되었고, 모항은 인천광역시 중구 월미도의 인천기지였다가 1999년 인천해역방어사령부를 남기고 현재의 평택 작전기지로 이전했다.
