The Chicago Spirit | 1893 #728466997
Description
Led by Richard D. Chappell the Chicago Spirit was an organized mob based in Chicago Illinois. Initially a bar on the South Side it expanded to other major U.S cities as result of generated wealth from bootlegging and other criminal-activities becoming one of the largest syndicates of the Prohibition era secretly and firmly established itself as a urban legend of the Chicago Underworld groups would usually steer away from because of its use in black magic, and the anomalous. During this time the Spirit worked alone but often engaged with other mobs with varying degrees of hostility. One notable exception was Al Capone the famed head of the Chicago Outfit who strictly forbid any interaction with the Spirit stating that he "wouldn't have anything to do with those [men]" influenced by Tornio's failed raid on the Spirits first building in 1919 which Capone witnessed. The group continued to amass power until its dissolution in 1937, still rumors of the Spirits emergence persist to this day
