Description
The Cascade County Rural Fire District was established in May of 1974, following the combination of all volunteer fire departments in Cascade County into a protection district, as a fire protection agency at the county level in Cascade County. In May of 1962, prior to the formation of the district, volunteer fire departments struggled to serve townships and villages throughout the county due to lack of funding, equipment, and personnel. Today, the Cascade County Rural Fire District continues to serve as a county-level rural fire protection agency of Cascade County, responsible for fire suppression, emergency medical services, and technical rescue operations throughout Cascade County outside the City of Harrison.
