Its goal is to "build a modern navy and ensure maritime power," and it is responsible for Taiwan Strait defense operations, reconnaissance and patrol, amphibious operations, and homeland defense. Its main forces include the Fleet Command, submarine squadron, marine corps, and naval aviation, with approximately 38,000 personnel. It is committed to building domestically produced warships and enhancing its self-defense capabilities.
