Description

The most senior detachment of the Grenadier Guards, assigned to the 1st Royal Brigade "CONTINENS" to protect the Royal Family and the British Command during their stay in Upper Canada during the war. The 1st Company of Grenadier Guards trace their history back to 1656 when Lord Wentworth's Regiment was raised in Bruges to protect the exiled Charles II. In 1665, this regiment was combined with John Russell's Regiment of Guards to form the current regiment, known as the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards. This current Company of Grenadier Guards distinguishes itself from the Yeomen of the Guard due to its stringent inspections and special place within the 1st Royal Brigade, whose membership makes up the most combat ready, devoted and morally solid of the entire Brigade. If you wish to become a Guardsman Fencible please speak with Sergeant + to pass a tryout. Entry to the Kings Company is barred to only those selected by the Captain-Lieutenant, Brigade Executive Command and the Royal Family.
