Description
The New Haven County Fire Department (NHCFD)'s Lander Company is tasked with firefighting, paramedic, and arson investigation throughout the city. The Lander Company formed in 1893 following a string of severe fires and arsons that left Lander's Volunteer Firefighters Coalition, an association of 7 volunteer fire and paramedic companies, could not handle. With the current volunteer system being strung thin, something had to change. The mayor opened communication with the county executive, and by 1891, a contract was reached where the New Haven County Fire Department would provide all fire and paramedic services to the City of Lander, and by 1983, the Volunteer Firefighters Coalition had been disbanded, and a majority of the member companies consolidated to create the Lander Company, consisting of three fire stations throughout the metropolis.
