The Sultanate of Iraq (Saltanat al-Iraq), seated in the fertile heartlands of the Tigris and Euphrates, stands as the principal division of the Abbasid Caliphate. The scholars, jurists, merchants, and warriors of Iraq form the intellectual and economic engine of Abbasid power. At its center rises the resplendent city of Baghdad, a living testament to Abbasid grandeur, its soaring mosques, libraries, and palaces embodying the harmony between knowledge and might, between the Caliph’s authority and the empire’s enduring soul.
