Description
𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮 (𝗛𝗖), formally the Department of Canadian Heritage, is the federal department responsible for preserving and promoting Canada’s cultural identity, national heritage, languages, arts, sport, and historical institutions. Heritage Canada supports cultural expression, national identity, and social cohesion through policies and programs that strengthen Canada’s shared values, historical recognition, and creative industries. Heritage Canada is accountable to Parliament through the Minister of Canadian Heritage under the Department of Canadian Heritage Act and the constitutional mandate to support national unity and cultural development. The Deputy Minister of Canadian Heritage oversees departmental strategy, policy execution, and program governance to ensure alignment with Canada’s cultural and heritage priorities.
