Description
The 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 (𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗧) is the Royal Canadian Navy's Atlantic formation, responsible for the operational readiness, training, and command of Canada's Atlantic Fleet. It oversees all RCN activities in the Atlantic Ocean and the eastern Arctic Ocean. Key functions and responsibilities of MARLANT include: • Overseeing the Canadian Atlantic Fleet, which includes frigates, maritime coastal defence vessels, and long-range patrol submarines • Ensuring that naval personnel, equipment, and training are ready for missions • Directing naval task forces both from shore and at sea during operations in the Atlantic and Arctic Ocean’s • Providing the necessary administrative, logistical, and technical support to the ships and units within the Atlantic Fleet. • Deploying forces in support of allied operations, such as those with NATO MARLANT works in concert with Maritime Forces Pacific (MARPAC), which is responsible for the RCN's Pacific operations.
