The Cascade County Sheriff's Office was established in December of 1860, following the designation of Cascade County, with Thomas Hamilton serving as the first appointed sheriff and law enforcement officer of the county, as a county-level law enforcement agency of Cascade County. Today, the Cascade County Sheriff's Office continues to serve as a county-level law enforcement agency of Cascade County, responsible for enforcing laws, maintaining public order, and protecting life and property throughout Cascade County, alongside corrections and medical examination.
