The Soviet Border Troops were a specialized security force of the Soviet Union responsible for protecting the state borders on land, sea, and air. Throughout the Cold War era, the Border Troops guarded frontier zones, intercepted infiltrators, prevented espionage and smuggling, and ensured the inviolability of Soviet territory. Highly disciplined and ever-vigilant, they stood as the first line of defense of the Motherland.
