Description

No. (99) Light Infantry Division, known as 99th TatMa (၉၉ ခြေလျင်တပ်), is regarded as one of the Tatmadaw’s most seasoned and capable light infantry formations, active across Kayin, Sagaing, and other key regions. Built around fast, coordinated Light Infantry Battalions, the division is known for its strong mobility and consistent field performance. The 99th is also associated with its Ogre Columns (Balu Sittkyaung), noted for rapid, concentrated movement during major operations. Its long record of high-tempo deployments has made the division widely seen as a reliable and effective force within the Tatmadaw.

Growth

3 measurements spanning 53 days, net -4. Dots are measurements; the straight line between them is drawn to join them, not to claim we know the path taken in between — snapshots are recorded only when a count changes, so gaps mean “no change observed”, never “interpolated”. The vertical axis spans 32–38 and does not start at zero.
