Description
𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐊𝐓𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐒 ───────────── The Triaktides were the Royals — thirty men, and the last word Rhodes ever spoke on a battlefield. No man asked to join them. No record earned it. The standing Royals put a name forward, the Halieia roared it back, and a soldier learned he had been raised by hearing himself called. There was no trial to sit and no appeal to make. Among them rank stopped being a matter of metal. Every shield was silvered and gilt, from the lowest attendant to the highest, so that only the device marked a man: Helios in his rays, Helios in his chariot, and at the summit the Colossus itself — one shield, one bearer, his number struck on the inner plate. The Stratia bore the rose. The Royals bore the god. They were spent last and spent once. When the Triaktides moved, the day was already decided — all that remained was the price. ─────────────
