𝐊𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐔𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐘 関東軍 Originally established to protect Japanese interests in Manchuria following the Russo-Japanese War, the Kwantung Army became a powerful force within the Imperial Japanese military. By 1931, it played a central role in the occupation of Manchuria, acting independently at times and helping establish the puppet state of Manchukuo. It remained stationed in the region throughout the Second Sino-Japanese War and was a key defender against Soviet forces in the final stages of World War II.
